Enrique Ortiz de Landázuri Izarduy (a.k.a. Enrique Bunbury), born August 11, 1967, is a Spanish singer-songwriter who is most known for his work with the band Enrique Bunbury. Bunbury was born in the Spanish city of Zaragoza. He first became interested in music in the early 1980s, when he joined a high school band named Apocalipsis. He subsequently became a member of the band Proceso Entrópico, which he later joined. In 1984, Bunbury became a member of a band named Zumo de Vidrio, where he made his debut as the main singer. Following the adoption of the stage name Bunbury, which was derived from the Oscar Wilde stage play The Importance of Being Earnest, the artist formed a collaboration with Héroes del Silencio and rose to prominence in the Hispanic rock scene. The band eventually disbanded in 1996, and Bunbury launched his solo career the following year with the release of Radical Sonora, an electro-rock album featuring Copi (piano), Del Moran (bass), Ramon Gacias (drums), and Alan Boguslavsky, a former member of Héroes del Silencio and a former member of the band. With his desire to always reinvent himself in mind, Bunbury published the album Pequeo in 1999, which sounded completely different from anything he had done previously. His band has also undergone changes, with Boguslavsky being replaced by Rafa Dominguez, and the addition of fresh faces such as Ana Belén Estaje (violin), Luis Miguel Romero (percussion), Javier Iigo, Javier Garcia Vega, and Antonio Ros on metal instruments, among others. The “Huracán Ambulante” (“Wandering Hurricane”) was the name of this band, which recorded the remainder of Bunbury’s solo career with him as a member.
